CSA Group Agrees to Sell its Testing, Inspection and Certification Business to Kiwa Group
Published: 28 August 2026
CSA Group has entered into an agreement to sell its global Testing, Inspection and Certification business to Kiwa Group for approximately C$2.1 billion in cash. The proposed transaction represents a major development within the international product-testing and certification industry.
The proposed transaction
CSA Group announced that its Testing, Inspection and Certification business—generally known as its TIC business—is to join Kiwa Group. The agreement values the business at approximately C$2.1 billion in cash, subject to customary financial adjustments.
The transaction has not yet been completed. It remains subject to approval by members of the Canadian Standards Association, regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions. Subject to receiving those approvals, completion is expected during the fourth quarter of 2026.
Following completion, CSA Group’s commercial testing, inspection and certification operations will become part of Kiwa Group. The Canadian Standards Association will continue separately as a member-based, not-for-profit standards-development organisation.
What this means for the EMC testing industry
CSA Group is one of the most widely recognised organisations operating in product testing and certification, particularly for access to the Canadian and North American markets. Its international facilities provide EMC, electrical safety, environmental, radio, cybersecurity and other specialist testing and certification services.
Bringing CSA Group’s TIC business into Kiwa would create a substantially enlarged international testing, inspection and certification organisation. The transaction is therefore of particular interest to manufacturers, EMC laboratories, certification specialists and others involved in global product compliance.
CSA Group has stated that Kiwa intends to maintain the TIC business’s Canadian headquarters and support its continuing development. The longer-term effects on individual laboratories, services and branding will become clearer after the transaction has received the necessary approvals and has been completed.
