The list below contains Generic commercial, Environment related, Functional Safety and Product/Product Family EMC standards; and are based on International or European regulations. This is not a comprehensive list, but contains the most commonly used ones. These standards are indicative as they do not show important details such as status, revisions, amendments etc; and so more investigation is required before using them to prove compliance or making a purchase.

BS EN IEC 61000
This is a series on Electromagnetic compatibility. EMC is the ability of electrical equipment and systems to function acceptably in their electromagnetic environment, by limiting the unintentional generation, propagation and reception of electromagnetic energy which may cause unwanted effects such as electromagnetic interference (EMI) or even physical damage in operational equipment

EMISSION
BS EN IEC 61000-3-2 – Harmonic Current
EMC limits for harmonic current emissions (equipment input current ≤16 A per phase)
BS EN IEC 61000-3-3 – Voltage Fluctuations and Flicker
This standard specifies limits of voltage changes that may be produced by equipment tested under specified conditions and gives guidance on methods of assessment. It is applicable to electrical and electronic equipment having an input current equal to or less than 16 A per phase.
BS EN 61000-4-30: 2015 – Conducted Power Quality
This standard defines the methods for measurement and interpretation of results for power quality parameters in a.c. power supply systems with a declared fundamental frequency of 50 Hz or 60 Hz.

BS EN IEC 61000-4-2 – ESD
This standard relates to the immunity requirements and test methods for electrical and electronic equipment subjected to static electricity discharges.
BS EN IEC 61000-4-3 RF Radiated
This standard is applicable to the immunity requirements of electrical and electronic equipment to radiated electromagnetic energy. It establishes test levels and the required test procedures.
BS EN IEC 61000-4-4 Fast Transients/Bursts
This standard gives immunity requirements and test procedures related to electrical fast transients/bursts and defines ranges of test levels and establishes test procedures.
BS EN IEC 61000-4-5 – Surges
This standard relates to the immunity requirements, test methods, and range of recommended test levels for equipment about unidirectional surges caused by over-voltages from switching and lightning transients.
BS EN IEC 61000-4-6 – RF Conducted
EMC testing and measurement techniques. Immunity to conducted disturbances, induced by radio-frequency fields
BS EN 61000-4-8 – Power Frequency Magnetic Field

BS EN IEC 61000‑6‑4 – Industrial Locations
This standard applies to electrical and electronic equipment intended for use within the environment existing at industrial locations. This RF emission standard is to be used where no applicable product or product family EMC emission standard is available.

BS EN 61000-1-2
This standard provides the best industry guidance on the methodology for the achievement of functional safety of electrical and electronic systems to ensure functional safety.
BS EN 61000-6-7:2015
This standard gives a range of Immunity requirements for equipment intended to perform functions in a safety-related system (functional safety) in industrial locations
IEEE 1848-2020
IEEE Standard for Techniques and Measures to Manage Functional Safety and Other Risks with Regard to Electromagnetic Disturbances
A set of practical methods is provided for helping to manage the levels of risks due to electromagnetic (EM) disturbances throughout the lifecycles of electronic equipment.

General requirements – Methods of testing and required test results
BS EN IEC 61326-1 Test and Measurement equipment and used in control or laboratory applications.
The standard lists requirements for EMC testing, which include radiated susceptibility, conducted susceptibility, radiated emissions and conducted emissions tests.

USA STANDARDS
FCC 47 CFR Part 15
More commonly known just as FCC Part 15; it covers regulations for radio frequency devices. It includes both Unintentional Radiators and Intentional Radiators.
FCC 47 CFR Part 18
More commonly known just as FCC Part 18; is an emission standard (conductive, radiated) for Industrial, Scientific and Medical Equipment (ISM).

MIL-STD-461 ( A, B, C, D, E, F, G )
This is a USA Department of Defense standard on Electromagnetic Compatibility. It is a common requirement for military programs and systems that provides guidance on EMI/ EMC verification requirements for all equipment and subsystems procured by military equipment.
MIL-STD-464
This USA Department of Defense standard establishes electromagnetic environmental effects (E3) interface requirements and verification criteria for airborne, sea, space, and ground systems, including associated ordnance.
RTCA DO-160G EUROCAE ED-14
This provides standard procedures and environmental test criteria for testing civil airborne equipment for the entire spectrum of aircraft from light general aviation aircraft and helicopters through the “jumbo jets” and SST categories of aircraft.

Power quality is related to EMC in several ways – especially because compliance with power quality requirements depends on the control of cumulative effect of electromagnetic emissions from all/multiple equipment and/or installations. Therefore, the voltage characteristics given in this document gives guidance for specifying requirements in equipment product standards and in installation standards.
