Electromagnetic Compatibility Handbook
Electromagnetic Compatibility Handbook

As the number of electrical devices in use continues to grow, so do the challenges of ensuring the EMC of products and systems. Fortunately, engineers have at their disposal an array of approximations, models, and rules-of-thumb to help them meet those challenges. The Electromagnetic Compatibility Handbook is an unprecedented compilation of the many approximations, guidelines, models, and rules-of-thumb used in EMC analyses, complete with their sources and their limitations. The book presents these in an efficient question-and-answer format and incorporates an extremely comprehensive set of tables and figures. Mathcad was used to generate most of the plots and solve many of the equations, and the author includes the Mathcad programs for many of these so users can clearly see the variable assignments, assumptions, and equations. Designed to be of long-lasting value to engineers, researchers, and students, the Electromagnetic Compatibility Handbook is ideal both for quick reference and as a textbook for upper-level and graduate electrical engineering courses, by Kenneth L Kaiser (2566 pages)

Intersystem EMC Analysis, Interference and Solutions book
Intersystem EMC Analysis, Interference and Solutions.

EMC issues need to be an initial consideration in design and deployment of electronic transmitters or receivers, or in deployed systems containing both. This book provides methodologies for defining EMC requirements for the device, platform, site, and arena levels and techniques for performing predictions and calculations to achieve EMC. Examples of the occurrence of electromagnetic problems are interference when devices are physically close and operating at the same, or similar, frequencies. In order to address this, the authors discuss several new approaches in mathematical development, such as the calculation of probability of interference based on frequency difference between two devices and the interference probability due to pulse to pulse interference. In theory, all the devices’ parameters should be available for analysis, but in practice, missing data is not uncommon. The book aims to define default values that allow the performance of EMC analysis in cases where the data is missing, such as antenna patterns, intercardinal antenna gain and near field approximations, by Uri Vered (254 pages)

RF & MICROWAVE BOOKS

Why, I hear you say, have we included a section on RF and MICROWAVE BOOKS in the EMC LIBRARY? The answer is surprisingly simple. Many of the “so-called” EMC design techniques and “fixes”, are actually well established and proven RF and Microwave techniques. Examples:- Think PCB track lengths and the relationship with Antenna Design – Think Ventilation slots in Shielding and Cases and the relationship with Slot Antenna Design. So a basic understanding of RF & Microwave techniques will help resolve many of your EMI problems.

It is gaining further relevance since climate warming is causing an increase in lightning strikes, and since the rising numbers of renewable power generators, the electricity grid, and charging infrastructure are susceptible to lightning damage. Chapter coverage includes various models and simulations of lightning strokes, measurements of lightning-generated EM fields, HF, VHF and microwave radiation, and lightning location systems; atmospheric discharge processes, lightning strikes to grounded structures and towers, EM field propagation, etc. by Vernon Cooray, Farhad Rachidi, & Marcos Rubinstein (666 pages)

Lightning
by Martin A. Uman Kindle
Lightning

Awesome to any beholder, lightning has been a subject of intense interest to scientists curious about its exact physical nature. There was a dearth of comprehensive scientific literature on the subject until the publication of this volume. It features remarkable clarity and a minimum of mathematical notation, making it accessible to non specialists.
Dr. Uman, whose own work has contributed greatly to understanding the physics of lightning, presents a general introduction to lightning phenomena and terminology, lightning photography, electrical and magnetic field measurements, and current measurements etc. by Martin A. Uman (Kindle & Hardcover 264 pages )
